For submission
of NMR samples please consider the following
rules:
- All samples must be free of solid particles
(deterioration of the
shim-/locksystem); if needed, filtrate the sample (pipette with
filtering wool).
- The filling height must be 45 mm (+5/-3mm).
Any deviations will evoke
an elevated shimming procedure, leading to reduced sample
throughput.
Samples with significantly less filling height can never
be shimmed properly.
- Samples must be capped and tightly sealed with Parafilm.
- The sample concentration should be ca. 0.2 M.
This is a good compromise for combinded
1H-/13C-measurements;
Rule of thumb: ca. 2 mg per carbon atom.
For smaller concentrations, the measurement time for 13C
increases by power of two.
In case of very high concentrations it is possible that the
lock signal will not be detected automatically.
This may lead to failures for measurements with the sample changer.
Overnight or even weekend measurement times might thus be wasted.
In case of doubt please contact us.
