6. What does "MUSICIANS" mean?
In modern NMR spectroscopy, pulse sequences are given acronyms. For example, COSY means COrrelation SpectroscopY, or INEPT means Insensitive Nuclei Enhanced by Polarization Transfer.
There are even more sophisticated examples: INADEQUATE stands for Incredible Natural Abundance DoublE QUAntum Transfer Experiment. CAMELSPIN means Cross-relaxation Appropriate for Minimolecules Emulated by Locked SPINs.
Without doubt, pulse sequences designed for playing melodies deserve being given an appropriate name. I chose the acronym MUSICIANS. Here's the definition:
